Tim Bagwell completed a doctorate in Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa and an MFA in the Iowa Writers Workshop. He has taught freshman English, reading, and composition for ten years, most recently at Vanderbilt University, where he was a Mellon Teaching Fellow.

As Editor at Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt, Tim worked on The Language of Literature and Language Network: Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics for grades 9 and 10. As Senior Editor at McGraw-Hill Education, he supervised the development of Glencoe American Literature, British Literature, and Grammar and Language Workbook for grades 11 and 12.

As a one-on-one tutor, Tim is fulfilling a lifelong dream of giving each student a learning experience adapted to his or her specific needs.

In his spare time, he writes science fiction and poetry, plays the Irish flute and tin whistle, and perfects the art of the dad joke.
