Laura George graduated from Duke University cum laude and with distinction with a B.A. in Psychology and later earned an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She served as a member of the Admissions Committee during her two years as a full-time student at Kellogg and read and reviewed hundreds of applications throughout her tenure. Laura previously wrote for both the Duke Chronicle and Kellogg Merger student newspapers, worked as an advertising copywriter, and served for nine years as an independent admissions consultant for top MBA candidates around the world. She also attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and currently writes professionally for various corporations.

Laura is very well informed about the qualities colleges are seeking in top candidates and highly skilled in advising students on how to tap into their most meaningful and revealing stories, find their authentic voices, craft excellent essays, and develop solid applications. Throughout her decades of admissions consulting work, Laura has found that the college application process fundamentally aligns with the MBA process, and thus has successfully transferred these insights to her work with college admissions clients.

Laura’s psychology studies and career as a brand/marketing manager enable her to relate well with students and help them develop their own unique “brand” as they craft their college essays and complete other application materials.
Laura is also a trained and experienced ACT/SAT tutor who has partnered with students to help them prepare for these tests for over a decade. She has recently transitioned all tutoring to her capable, experienced staff of tutors whom she personally trained, but Laura still regularly interacts with all tutors and advises all students and parents on package selection and allocation of lessons by subject matter and tutor.

Most importantly, Laura is honored to be the mother of four wonderful boys, and she cherishes this role every day. She draws from her experiences as a parent to build rapport with students and help them identify and articulate their unique stories as she guides them through the admissions process.

Laura is a member of these professional organizations:
