Russ Gates is originally from Mundelein, IL. After graduating from Mundelein High School in 2001, he went on to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Russ Graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Mathematics and a certification to teach secondary mathematics. Russ returned to his Alma Mater in 2006 where he currently teaches Geometry, Honors Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB. Over the years, Russ has taught all math classes from Introduction to Algebra to AP Calculus.
Outside of the classroom, Russ spends his time in the pool coaching boys’ swimming and boys’ water polo. When he’s not coaching aquatics, you can often find Russ in the pool swimming himself or cycling to stay in shape. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Erin and his three young children.
What Russ enjoys the most about tutoring students in math and science is the ability to help students in a one on one personalized setting that best meets their needs in order to achieve their individual goals.
